ALL SUMMER I have been seeing people on social media (mostly photographers, but also lots of people just wanting to get a look) about this giant sunflower field. I am not the biggest fan of bees (more on that later) or snakes, so I decided I was not going to go unless I had a client who asked to get their photos done there. About 1 day later, my friend Anne messaged me and asked if we could go and get her daughter Maddie’s Senior Portraits done there. We joined the crowds and battled the heat, and many, many bees to get some pictures of beautiful Maddie before her senior year. We were super lucky in shady the spot we found, and arrived at 7:45am to try to ‘beat the heat.’ I was blown away by all of the sunflowers- what a cool place! Maddie looked adorable, and was super brave when I asked her to walk through the field of bees, smell flowers with bees on them, and even put one in her ear! The one low point of the session was when a lady decided it would be ok to walk right through the sunflowers AND Maddie and I with her dog, not avoiding the bees AT ALL. Of course, this angered the bees, and I took a bee sting to the butt…haha. It was actually kind of funny because the struggle was getting real at the end with all of the bees and people. Maddie and I managed to get out of the field with no more bee stings! Maddie was such a trooper and I hope she enjoys the photos because I think it all paid off! Enjoy!
