Every March, I have one week off, and it seems that Karen and I have made a tradition of going out and practicing our photography not only every year during this track out, but every March 15! It is interesting to see what we were practicing last year compared to this year. We both have grown in the past year as photographers. Another comparison we made between this year’s “Practice Day” and last year’s is the WEATHER! It was 75 and sunny last year at Ann Wilkerson Nature Preserve when we were working on shooting in harsh light, while it was 25 and windy this year at Historic Oak View Park while we were working on posing, composition and taking shots that are not in our comfort zones. Of course, we had so much fun doing this. We arrived at 10am, and after what I thought was 30 minutes, I looked at my clock to see that 2 hours had past! We stayed out there for 3 hours- shooting, sharing ideas, and laughing! I think my favorite moment was when I looked at Karen who was taking my picture and grass had not only blown all over her, but also in her mouth. I couldn’t stop laughing! That made for some cute pictures, haha! π I am thankful for this sweet friend, a beautiful [cold] day, and the fact that I can feel my fingers and toes again. π Enjoy!
Here are a few of the photos that Karen took of me! I am not used to being the subject of photos, so this is always a fun experience for me as a photographer! It really puts things into perspective when it comes to posing and making your clients feel comfortable in front of the lens. I would say one of Karen’s greatest strengths is posing and not being afraid to try new things with her clients! This is one of my biggest goals for 2017! π Check out Karen’s instagram here!
